Monday, July 04, 2005  ![]() Happy Independence Day! Not happy Fourth of July; that phrase bugs me. It doesn't matter what day it happened, it's the ideals behind the day that are important. The revolution wasn't televised, since we didn't have that technology, but if we had Teh Intarweb, there'd have been awesome flash cartoons mocking King George's German heritage and the British Man keepin' us down. America Equals Sweet! We are the last best hope for mankind, you know. (Yes, I think Ronald Reagan was the shiznit and Heart Democracy, which makes me an utter weirdo among my peers, I know.) Anyway, the singular date of July Fourth doesn't do the event justice. It's sort of like celebrating December 25th Day rather than Christmas, or April 8th Day instead of Siddhartha Gautama's birthday. (Teh Buddha R00x0rs J00r |\|1rvana-craving B0xx0rs. Only that Craving Enlightenment dooms you to a desiring an afterlife you won't be able to achieve in this lifetime, due to the craving. Or something.) posted by Nate on 5:39 PM link
