Also, we had a bunch of computer cables and parts to get rid of. I will now proceed to sip cognac from a diamond-encrusted chalice and listen to Barry White records for several hours. Aaaawww yeah. posted by Nate on 12:10 AM link Thursday, February 24, 2005  Married in the eyes of Godposted by Nate on 11:57 PM link Monday, February 21, 2005  R.I.P. Hunter S. Thompson![]() The man, the myth, the legend commits suicide at the age of 67. Like many people, I was greatly influenced by HST. He got me interested in drugs, cynicism, and, um, journalism. Were it not for him, I never would have created the first incarnation of swankypimp.com (the one that was based on a loose collection of my articles from, ahem, Gonzo! Magazine), and was intended to be compiled into a New Journalism narrative about the world weary narrator. Also like Thompson, I morphed into my narrator persona at some point. My latest writings are a shell of my former talent, as I descend more and more into incoherent ramblings and substance abuse. Maybe twenty years from now Johnny Depp will play me in a movie. My mom would like that; she really digs Johnny Depp. posted by Nate on 10:03 PM link Sunday, February 20, 2005  My friend Ryan sent me this link a few days ago:http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/children/kidtalk.mspx It's "A Parent's Primer to Computer Slang," and basically informs parents about leetspeak. As Ryan succinctly points out: I remember back in 1996 when it was only a few online losers that used that stuff. Now, it's somehow mainstream enough to have a FAQ on microsoft.com about it?? WTF D00D?! posted by Nate on 8:51 PM link
