Happy Thanksgiving, everybody! Here's an image I ripped off from Lileks a couple years back. My list of things to be thankful for this year now not only includes "the trandsplendent literary pulchritude of Jim Lileks," but also "the fact that he is not touchy about copyright issues, especially when it involves pimps and turkeys."

Panic in Detroit!!! I asked for an autograph.
He wanted to stay home. I wish someone would phone.
Panic in Detroit!!!

I don't like Ron Artest. He is a thug and a showboat and a showboating thug. (Not to mention one helluva player.) At least he will now have time to promote that R&B record.

Amazingly, Friday and Staurday the ESPN analysts keep pouring blame on the Detroit fans. Has the world officially gone insane? Just because some dude (who looks a lot like Che Guevara) lobs a brew at you while you are showboating, that's no excuse to go rampaging into the crowd.

Besides, Ron Artest, Steven Jackson, et al. are paid millions of dollars per year to be bigger and more muscular than other professional athletes, let alone some Miller-tossing douchebag in row ten. Did it not cross their minds that they could seriously hurt or kill somebody?

All told, they showed some restraint in merely shoving suspected cup-lobbers to the ground instead of beating them bloody. By contrast, the altercation on the court was gratuitous. From what I've read, the guys in Pistons jerseys who took haymakers from Artest and Jermaine O'Neal we ballboys who wandered into the fracas.

If these guys don't get a nice long suspension, Kermit Washington should apply for reinstatement.

UPDATE: Artest is done for the year, Jackson gets 25 games, O'Neal gets 25. Ben Wallace got six, if only to appease the Pacers fans who don't think that a hard foul in the final minute of a fifteen point game deserves retalliation.
