Monday, August 18, 2003  I'm without a computer for a week, ten days. Long story, but essentially I used the guts of my Athlon system on an Office LAN Upgrade I was working on, and now have a Pentium 4 on order. Should probably be here soon, but whatever can go wrong will-- rolling blackouts shutdown "nonessential" shipping services like UPS; FedEx goes on strike and makes ludicrous demands like riotous European sanitation workers; etc. I'll probably update the site a few times this week when I'm at my sister's, but I make no promises. No computer, no Internet-- what am I going to do with my time? I'm already starting to have Lileks withdrawal pains; for the first time in two-plus years I have no idea what gol' darn cute thing his toddler did today, or how the dog reated to the situation, or how this relates to the situation in the Middle East. I can no longer live vicariously through him, and think I might have to get a family of my own-- kid, dog, adopted Arab terrorist cell; the whole deal. Why, just the other day I was wondering what it would be like to move to North Dakota. Rolling prairies. Cool, crisp air. Man, I need my 'puter back. posted by Nate on 10:05 PM link
